Kanger Uboat vape

Looks like Kangertech finally decided to step into the pod system market and their device is pretty interesting. The Kanger Uboat offers a very tight draw, 2ml refillable pods and great battery life. It’s shaped like a miniature German WW2 submarine and feels great in the hand. You can use it for nic salts but it also works great with 12mg freebase e-liquids.

What you get with the Kanger Uboat vape

The Kanger Uboat vape is packed in a clear acrylic box. Inside you will find the device itself, the USB style charger, one empty pod and the user manual.

Unfortunately the company decided to use their own proprietary charger instead of a standard micro-USB slot. This is one of the biggest cons, since the cable can get easily lost or broken.

Black is the only color available, but it looks really nice.

Uboat vape: Design and main features

The Kanger Uboat pod system has a very cool design. We particularly enjoyed the textured finish which gives it plenty of grip. It easily fits inside your pocket or purse and it automatically activates on draw. It consists of two parts: the battery and the pod and it's very simple to put together.

There are two interior connectors for the cartridge and two exterior connectors for the proprietary charger. The device is also fitted with an LED which lights up each time you take a draw.

The built-in battery is rated at 550mAh, and this makes it one of the biggest in this category. It's triple than what the JUUL vape offers and it fully charges in around 1h.

The Uboat pods

The Kanger Uboat e-cig works with refillable pods. This come empty and you will need to remove the seal before filling them up with e-liquid. The rubber gasket needs to be unplugged to get access to the fill port. Unfortunately it's not that wide and you're better off using a needle top bottle or syringe.

The coils have a resistance of 1.5 Ohms and their use ceramic material. This ensures even greater battery life, but the flavor and vapor production are not as good as on a SMOK Fit podfor instance.

Kanger recommends using 50% VG nic salts for best results and this is definitely something you need to consider. The draw is pretty tight and the coils will burn a lot faster if you use thicker juices.

Performance and thoughts on the Uboat vape

The Kanger Uboat vape is nice pod system with a streamlined design. It resembles a miniature submarine and works with reusable pods. The draw is pretty tight and this makes it perfect for mouth to lung users. Battery life is well above average and it’s quite impressive when considering its size.

During our tests we found three main cons with the Uboat: the proprietary charger, the tiny fill port and the max 50%VG ratio. These don’t represent a deal breaker but it's something you need to know about.

If we consider the $20 price rage, this tiny vape is a good alternative to its contenders. It's perfect for beginners, however we recommend intense flavors like tobacco or menthol to enjoy its full potential.
