The SMOK Nord pod vape is one of our favorite products in this category. Everything from the build quality to the flavor and vapor production are very impressive with this tiny low output device. It’s the perfect vape for beginners and intermediate users and works with with freebase as well as nicotine salts juices. The coils are engineered to perfection and battery life is one of the best in its class.

Presentation of the SMOK Nord vape
Depending on where you are in the World, you can get the SMOK Nord vape in either the 3ml version or the 2ml TPD compatible European version. Both these kits include the device itself, a 0.6 Ohm coil, a 1.4 Ohm coil, a micro-USB cable, a refillable pod and the user manual. The only difference is with the pod, the standard version having 3.0ml while the EU version having 2.0ml capacity.
In terms of color there are up to 21 options available, from the regular honeycomb finish to a resin-style design or a carbon fiber style design.
Design of the Nord pod system
The Nord pod system is very similar to the SMOK Novo in terms of looks and to the Aspire Breeze 2 in terms of performance. The device measures 94mm x 30mm x 19mm and weighs around 80 grams. It’s made from a combination of plastic and Zinc alloy and fells very durable and well built. The finish is quite chic and it will definitely draw attention to it, especially with one of the resin variants.
The product consists of two main parts: the device itself which includes the 1100mAh built-in battery and the pod which incorporates the mouthpiece on the top part.
The SMOK Nord features an on/off button on the front and this also acts as the activator. Most pod systems are activated on draw, however the ones with a button give more control of the overall experience. It makes the vapor warmer than the competitors and there’s no chance it will activate in your pocket by mistake.
The button is also back-lit and acts as a battery indicator. Whenever you tap it twice it will show the color Green if it’s above 70% charged, orange if it’s between 30 - 70%, and Red if it’s time to plug it in.
Features of the SMOK Nord device
The SMOK Nord pod vape is and entry level device intended to be used with high nicotine freebase e-liquids or with nicotine salts. It’s output ranges between 10W - 15W, depending on the type of coil used and on the remaining battery charge. It’s not a fully regulated vape, which means you will notice a drop in performance when the battery falls under 40-50%.
The device also comes with multiple protection to keep you safe. Besides the 8-second cut-off interval, it also features low voltage, short circuit and battery protections.
The pod and Nord coils
The SMOK Nord pod comes in either 3.0ml or 2.0ml e-juice capacity. It’s made from clear plastic and features a small e-liquid indicator windows designed with a cut-out in the device itself. The mouthpiece is quite large but comfortable and the draw is tighter than on the Novo with the MTL coil.
To fill the pod with e-liquid you need to remove the rubber gasket on the side and use a gorilla/unicorn style bottle.
When it comes to available coils, you essentially get two of them inside the kit. The Regular 1.4 Ohm coil is intended for mouth to lung use and has a tight draw. The 0.6 Ohm Mesh coil is intended for tight direct lung inhales and provides more vapor.
Both these coils give fairly warm vapor and very good flavor. They tend to last between 5 - 10 days each and while they are a bit more costly than other brands, they provide an amazing overall vape experience.
There are also two optional coils you can purchase for this particular device: the 0.8 Ohm MTL mesh a and the 1.4 Ohm ceramic coil. These are sold separately and you can buy them in packs of five.
FYI: we did read about using the SMOK Nord for Cannabis oils with the ceramic coil. And while we don’t find this to be a good idea, we sure appreciate the cleverness of some users. In theory it should work, however we do not recommend vaping any products that are not VG/PG based due to concerns about lipid pneumonia. Please do thorough research before exposing yourself to unnecessary risks.
Performance of the SMOK Nord pod vape
The SMOK Nord pod vape is an excellent device to enjoy nicotine salts and started e-liquids. The coils are really impressive and the overall experience is top notch. We did not encounter any sort of issue with this vape and it’s something we definitely recommend to beginners and intermediate users. The vapor is very satisfying and the button accounts for much more control. The 1100mAh battery is enough to last you a full day and it takes around 3h to get fully charged.
The only real con we found with this product is that it doesn't have adjustable airflow, which would have made it perfect.
