The Wismec Predator kit is easy to use, consistent and ideal for beginners or intermediate vapers looking for a great sub ohm experience. And while you can use the NS coils up to 120W, we found it to perform best at around 75W. The 0.2 Ohm coils also shine at 60W-65W and flavor is pretty intense on both. We didn't encounter any sort of issues with this device and it's a product we recommend. It also has upgradeable firmware and that's always a big plus in our books.
Up to now the Alien from SMOK was the device we mostly recommended for vapers looking for an affordable high power mod with a good quality to price ratio. However, since we used the Wismec Predator kit for a couple of days we discovered an even better alternative. It's roughly the same size as the Alien, it very accurate and user friendly board and the build quality is exceptional.
General aspects and box contents
The Wismec Predator is a dual 18650 device that goes from 1W up to 228W and fires down to 0.10 Ohms in power mode. Comes with 2A charging, hidden fire button and a beautiful OLED display that we know from newer RX models. It's responsive, dependable and the finish looks durable over time.
Inside the box you will find the Predator mod, the Elabo sub ohm tank, a 0.2 Ohm coil, a NS 0.25 Ohm coil, a micro USB cable, and user manuals. Right from the start you will notice there is no threading on the NS Triple 0.25ohm coil head. It's part of a new generation "pop and use" atomizer heads that make makes changing coils a lot easier. At the same time we didn't experience leaking or other issues so we're pretty sure Wismec did a great job designing these NS heads.
The Wismec Predator design and main features
The Wismec Predator measures 87 x 44 x 29mm and weighs little over 160 grams. It's powered by two high drain 18650 batteries. We recommend buying cells with a continuous discharge rate of minimum 25A. On the top side we have a spring loaded 510 connector. It can accommodate atomizers with even bigger diameters than the Elabo tank. On the right side we see the fire button – or fire bar and on the face of the vape mod there's the OLED display, adjustment button and micro-USB slot. On the base we have the flip to open battery cover that prevents any sort of rattle.
The board features Buck Boost technology, which ensures steady power output and allows for a consistent experience with each puff. It also comes with a variety of safety measures like dual circuit protection and reverse polarity protection. With the help of a reverse charging adapter you could also use the Wismec Predator as a power back for your phone or tablet.
The Elabo Sub Ohm Tank is awesome
The Elabo sub ohm tank included in this kit is also a champ when it comes to producing thick and flavorful clouds. It has a diameter of 25mm and a variable e-liquid capacity depending on the type of coil you're using. Since the NS coil is slightly bigger, the tank will hold a maximum of 4.6ml of ejuice. When inserting the threaded 0.2 Ohm coil, e-juice capacity is increased to 4.9ml.
The tank has an ingenious child proof top fill mechanism that locks when pressing on the drip tip. It also comes with adjustable airflow at the bottom and if you're a fan of airy draws, then you won't be disappointed with the 0.25 Ohm NS coil.
