Packaging and available colors
When you get the Vaporesso Polar 220W TC vape it's going to come in a high quality cardboard presentation box. Inside you will find the mod itself, the Cascade Baby SE tank, two coils, a braided micro-USB cable, a replacement glass section and the user manual.
Available colors are: red & black, blue & black, green & black, as well as silver, red, gold, and metallic grey. In our opinion the dual tone design looks a lot better. If you're into vape aesthetics it's a mod we definitely recommend on getting.
The design of the Vaporesso Polar starter kit
The Vaporesso Polar starter kit is one of the best looking vape products of 2018. If you were a fan of the Revenger mod then changes are you will also like this bad boy.
The device measures 90mm x 45mm x 28mm and weighs 130g without batteries. It’s much lighter than other dual 18650 box mods in the same category. This is because the outer chassis is made from a combination of metal and plastic. Also the beveled edges helps the mod feel very natural in the hand.
The glass section of the tank is tinted in the same color as the mod itself. This makes for a great combo and it’s one of the reasons we like it so much. You also get a spare tube with the kit, unfortunately this one is fully transparent. On top of the Vaporesso Polar mod we have a spring loaded 510 connector that takes atomizers up to 25mm in diameter without overhang.
The fire button is placed on the side while the screen, adjustment buttons and micro-USB slot on the front. To access the battery compartment you need to take off the back panel, which is held in place by three magnets. The device works with two high drain 18650 batteries and these slide in and out quite easily.
The OMNI Board 4.0 and the color display
The Vaporesso Polar box mod is one of the top performers in this category. This is partly because it’s powered by the brand new OMNI Board 4.0. The chip features lightning-fast firing times and takes 0.001s to activate.
With the Polar mod you get variable wattage up to 220W, variable voltage up to 9V, temperature control, TCR, Bypass, power as well as temperature curves. You also get a Super Player mode where the device fires down to 0.03 Ohms.
The color display is bright and nice to look at. It features real time clock screen saver and the user interface is one of the best we've seen. The menu system is mostly intuitive. The large menu icons show exactly what options are available. Up to now I found the Polar to have the most efficient menu to (pre-)set the wire settings.
One of the best features of this board is its 2.5A charging option. Both batteries get charged at a rapid rate. It's very nice to see the charging status of both batteries on the display.
Like almost every other Vaporesso vape like the Revenger, its firmware is upgrade-able. This is and has always been a big pro in our books.
The Cascade Baby SE tank
The Cascade Baby SE tank is the perfect match for the Vaporesso Polar mod. The glass is in the same shade as the device and features child-proof top fill and triangular adjustable airflow. It delivers excellent flavor and clouds and it copes with high VG juices perfectly.
We mostly used it with the 0.18 Ohm GT Meshed coil, which is one of the best we tried in 2018. Flavor is spot on and vapor production is really good for the 50 - 80W threshold.
Performance and overall thoughts
The Vaporesso Polar 220W TC kit is very well designed and rich in features. It comes with the lovely Cascade Baby SE tank, which accounts for very good vapor and flavor. The 0.18 Ohm mesh coils are some of the best we tried and overall performance has surpassed our expectations.
The only con we found was with the Bypass mode, which doesn't seem to hit as hard as on other devices. We’re guessing they use some sort of limiter which prevents it from reaching full potential. If someone has more info on this "issue" please use the comments below.
