UWELL Nunchaku 80W TC review - A nice temperature controlled vape pen starter kit

UWELL Nunchaku 80W TC starter kit

It has definitely been a while since we last reviewed a tube mod but the UWELL Nunchaku 80W TC made a really nice first impression. This "nunchaku grip style" cloud machine is rock solid and feels it can withstand a few hard drops. The finish is absolutely beautiful and the overall quality and vape experience are worth the more expensive-ish price tag.

What you get with the Nunchaku

The UWELL Nunchaku 80W TC comes packed in a standard cardboard presentation box. Inside you will find the mod itself, the Nunchaku sub ohm tank with a pre-fitted 0.25 Ohm coil, a spare 0.4 Ohm coil, micro-USB cable, extra glass tube, spare parts and the user manual. Color options include purple, black, rainbow, silver, and blue, with the tank and mod being the same shade.

Nunchaku from Uwell: Design and features

The UWELL Nunchaku 80W TC is a variable wattage vaporizer pen that also features temperature control. It measures 94.5mm in height and the diameter is 27.4mm in its widest point. Net weight is 125g without any battery inside. It's made from solid stainless steel so feels quite sturdy and the anodized finish seems durable.

It has a spring loaded 510 connector on top and will work with atomizers and tanks up to 25mm in diameter. Fire button is nice and clicky and placed towards the upper section. The OLED display and two adjustment buttons are more towards the bottom. Micro-USB slot is on the back, opposing the fire button. On the base we have the battery knob, which has butter smooth threads.

It takes a single high drain 18650 battery to power up the UWELL Nunchaku 80W TC. This mod goes from 5W all the way up to 80W and also features temperature control for Nickel and Stainless Steel. The Bypass mode essentially turns it into an unregulated device, which outputs power depending on battery charge and atomizer resistance.

A retro style 0.96" OLED display

The UWELL Nunchaku 80W TC features a tiny 0.96-inch OLED display. This reminded us of the famous Provari mods or the Innokin iTaste SVD series. It shows output wattage, remaining battery, atomizer resistance as well as output voltage. To get into the menu just press the fire button three consecutive times.

The Nunchaku sub ohm tank

With this kit you also get the Nunchaku sub ohm tank. This is another mid-range cloud chucker from Uwelll and it performs like a real champ. Total capacity is 5.0ml and it features convenient top fill. It's not as good as the Valyrian tank we reviewed a few months back, but definitely does a nice job. The coils are pretty good and they can handle 70% VG without any wicking issues. We recommend using the 0.4 Ohm coil at 45W for the best performance. This is also our favorite from the two.

Performance on the Nunchaku

Performance on the UWELL Nunchaku 80W TC is quite surprising. This is by far one of the most complex vape pens ever built and totally rivals the SMOK Resa. You can fully adjust power between 5 – 80W and it also works in TC mode. Sadly you cannot adjust wattage when using Nickel or Stainless Steel but it's definitely a cool feature to have on a device like this. Vapor quality is pretty good but nothing to blow your mind. All in all, a great device for beginners and intermediate vapers, especially for those who enjoy tubular mods.
