You have probably wondered why there are so many topics and questions about vapor production and its factors and why do some vapers brag about their devices while others are desperate trying to get at least half of the amount. Well, you need to take into consideration that there are a lot of factors involved when it comes to vapor and many brands try to find the perfect balance between them in order to offer the ultimate experience.

ecig vaporThe first factor is the PG/VG ratio of your ejuice. While in simple terms the higher the VG level, the more vapor it’s produced we also need to consider the fact that PG is the one responsible for carrying the flavor. There are users who love clouds of vapor while other love a nice rich flavor. While most companies don’t offer their eLiquids in variable PG/VG ratios, if you are an experienced vaper you know you can mix your own ejuice and benefit from more flavor or more vapor, depending on the case.

The wicking element is the second factor that influences vapor production. As it needs to supply a constant flow of eLiquid to the atomizer, it plays a big role in the amount of flavor and vapor production. Depending on the material used, the most common are made of silica or cotton while other experiment with hemp, fiber or ceramic rope in the quest for finding the ultimate wicking element for the best vaping experience.

The third factor you need to take into consideration is heat. Depending on the resistance of the atomizer (which usually varies from 1.5 to 3.0Ohms) and the battery used, the total output power of the device can vary. This is a key factor in vapor production. The hotter the atomizer the more vapor and flavor for the user. This is why there are so many mods on the market and why variable voltage/wattage devices are gaining so much popularity.

Surface vaporizing area is another factor we need to think about. It refers to the amount of wicking material in contact with the atomizer coil. The typical clearomizer has a 6 wrap, 2.5Ohm resistance coil with a tiny surface area, fitted with an equally tiny wick having no more than 2mm inside the coil and another 2mm laying outside. This in combination with a typical 3.7Volt battery gives a very decent and satisfying vaping experience for most users.

The last component that is usually ignored by many is the air. It is crucial to have a constant air supply in order to ventilate the vaporizing chamber and keep the coil from overheating as well as to transport vapor. Good airflow contributes to vapor production, flavor and the lifespan of your atomizer too. Some vapers increase the wattage or their devices in order to get the same amount of vapor but with less draw than regular ecigarettes provide.

Knowing all of these elements will hopefully give you a better understanding about the vaping process in general and it will help you choose a device suited to your own personal needs.
