Do I need a mechanical mod? Or is the regular vape good enough?

The global vape market is shifting towards powerful new vaporizers like mechanical mods and AVPs but at the same time is leaving regular consumers in quite a dilemma. Should they give up on the cig-a-like or the vape pens that helped them quit smoking and go for a new device or should they stick with the ones they are so used to? Well, however you put it, there’s no simple answer for this question, but we will try to present some of the pros and cons of making the switch.

Understanding the Mech mod

Mods need constant replacement of batteries and many of them cannot be charged inside the device but rather require an external charger. For this, you need to pay very close attention to polarities and avoid plugging your battery the wrong way. While it may not look like rocket science, for many people above a certain age this can be tricky.

The Pro's and Con's

The other thing that constantly needs your attention and skills is the fact that each mod requires refilling with e-liquid. This is not hard after you get used to it or if you have very confident hands, but again, for some people this might sound discouraging and messy. Then there’s the quest for buying batteries and probably an a tank, since some mechanical mods don’t come with any of these out of the box.

However, once you get used to these routines and understand how the device work, you will be rewarded with a vaping experience that’s far more intense and overwhelming than any cig-a-like or eGo type device can ever offer. Vapor production, throat hit, and flavor are simply from a different league and after your first puffs, you will understand what all the fuss is about. They don’t come cheap, and sometimes they have the same price as a good quality starter kit, but they are much more dependable and last a lot longer because there aren’t any electronics that might fail. With regular maintenance, this type of device can save you even more money because e-liquid costs less than buying replacement cartridges.

On the other hand if you are the type of person that doesn’t like to get his/hers hands dirty, cig-a-likes are the perfect alternative. You simply recharge the battery out of a regular USB or wall charger, replace the cartridge and you’re ready to puff. You can buy cartridges in batches to cut on costs and you’ll have plenty to vape on for a couple of months.

My opinion

If you are satisfied with the flavor and vapor production of your current vaping device, there’s no need to think about changing it for something more powerful just because many people below a certain age do it. Yes, they are far more powerful and give a better vaping experience, but if your actual devices helps you stay away from tobacco, why fix something that’s not broken?
