Vaping dabs has never been easier, however many people don’t know how to set their device properly and end up having a sub-par experience. From very harsh vapor to little or no flavor, there are a few beginner mistakes you can totally avoid by reading the article. We are going to talk about the best temperature to vape waxes and why it’s important to start with the lower settings and slowly build your way up from there.

Why dabbing temperature is important

Whether we are talking about shatter, rosin, crumble, or honey crystal they all have some type of Cannabis compounds. These Cannabis compounds are characterized by their effects and also by their boiling points. Knowing the boiling points is essential to get the experience we are hoping for.

The two most important Cannabis compounds or Cannabinoids are THC and CBD. THC has a boiling point of 315F /157C, while CBD has a higher boiling point of 356F/180C. Terpenes like Pinene, Myrcene, or Limonene have boiling points up to 349F/176C, while the highest temperature is required to extract THCv: 428F/220C.

Using a dabbing pen with a temperature of 360F/182C will ensure most terpenes get extracted as well as the powerful Cannabinoids CBD and THC.

Vaping concentrates at low temperatures

Low temperature dabbing is a great starting point for beginners and it will help you enjoy the most of your waxes and concentrates. The wide majority of Cannabionoids and terpenes have a boiling point of just under 400F/204C, therefore this would be the maximum temperature for the job. In most cases this would be the lowest temperature or power setting on any standard wax pen.

This is where you will feel the best flavor and really enjoy these concentrates to their full potential.

Do note that temperatures bellow 300F/149C won’t produce too much vapor or flavor, since none of the important compounds are being vaporized.

High temperature dabbing

Vaping waxes at high temperatures can be both rewarding and risky, so make sure you understand what you are doing. High temperature dabbing is when the temperature exceeds 430F/221C. This will cause very fast and intense highs and fast pain relief, however it’s not all sunshine and roses.

Dabbing at high temperatures will deliver a harsher taste that will most likely cause coughing and a sore throat. It can also cause potentially harmful chemicals like carcinogens, however that mostly happens at higher temperatures and depends on the purity of your wax. Carcinogens are cancer causing chemicals that usually occur when combustion happens.

The best temperature to vape waxes

It all depends on personal preference, but the best temperature to vape waxes would be anywhere between 360F/182C to 430F/221C. This gives the perfect balance between flavor, terpenes and Cannabinoids. The vapor is not very hot nor harsh and while it’s not as visible as with an e-liquid pen, the overall experience is amazing.

Of course there are wax pens which can go as high as 895F - like the Saber vape pen , but this is only for people who prefer high temperature dabbing.
