What you get with the Yocan Evolve Plus XL

The Yocan Evolve Plus XL comes packed in a lovely double top hinged cardboard box, which the company logo clearly standing out. Inside you will find the vaporizer itself, a spare quad coil atomizer, a posh loading tool, a micro-USB cable, a lanyard and, a hanging ring as well as the user manual.

The vape pen is available in five different colors: Luminous, Rose gold, Champagne, Silver and Black and the finish seems very durable over time.

Ingenious design and a cool magnetic dome

The Yocan Evolve Plus XL is slightly bigger than its predecessor, but a lot more powerful. It measures 115mm in height and has a diameter of 22mm. It's compact, discreet, and fits the palm of your hand just perfectly. A true pocket friendly vape that's extremely capable with waxes, concentrates and oils. Battery capacity is 1400mAh and this will more likely get you through a full day

This dab pen is made of six individual components: the atomizer tube, the coil cap, the coil, the base, the battery and the silicone jar. If you want to use the included lanyard and carry the vape around your neck you will have to unscrew the base and mount the hanging ring beneath it. The hidden silicone jar has a metallic chassis and it screws into the base. This comes with two individual compartments and it's great for taking your waxes or concentrates on the go.

The dome is magnetic and that's a nice feature of the Evolve XL vaporizer. This will never get stuck to the base, however it tends to get quite hot after three or four sessions in a row. Just under the dome we have the airflow adjustment ring and this works like a charm. You can easily adjust the draw to fit your personal preference and we found that the looser the better.

Powerful quad quartz coil atomizer but hard to wick properly

The Yocan Evolve Plus XL atomizer features four individual quartz rod coils as well as a central deck for the dab material. These coils heat up almost instantly and produce huge clouds if you manage to distribute the wax evenly.

Unfortunately the middle section doesn't heat up and that's why you will almost always end up with leftover dab that doesn't get vaporized. You can try to put equal amounts of wax on each of the coils, but that's a painstaking process that's usually destined for failure. The dab material on some of the coils will most likely get vaporized faster than others and this will result in a burnt aftertaste.

Performance and final words on the Yocan Evolve Plus XL

When it comes to performance and especially vapor production, the Yocan Evolve Plus XL is hard to beat. Its four coils produce a huge amount of vapor and the flavor is incredibly good. But as we mentioned earlier, it's really hard to distribute your dab evenly, unless you're using a really big chunk of material.

The device is easy to use, easy to recharge and the magnetic dome is a nice added touch. It's very pocket friendly and the build quality is definitely more than OK for this price. We would love to see a ceramic atomizer in the future, which will more than likely fix the only problem this device has.
