VaporFi V-Grip 220 TC

Out of all the VaporFI devices we tested so far this one is by far the most powerful and elegant. The VaporFi V-Grip 220 TC is dual 18650 box mod which features temperature control and TCR functionality. Built from high quality zinc alloy it feels sturdy and durable and can easily take a 25mm atomizer on top without overhang.

What you get with the V-Grip 220 mod

The VaporFi V-Grip 220 TC mod comes packed in a standard white and green presentation box. Inside you will find the device itself, a micro-USB cable for charging, authenticity card and the user manual.

There are two colors two choose from – Black and Stainless Steel – and it looks great either way. If you owned their popular Rebel 3 vape and have seen those colors and textures you would know too.

The V-GRIP 220 design

The VaporFi V-Grip 220 TC is a medium-sized, dual 18650, box mod with nice rounded edges. It's incredibly ergonomic and feels comfortable and very natural in the hand. The usual fire button has been replaced with a fire bar which allows for fast, easy usage.

On top of the mod we have a spring loaded 510 connector and you will be able to use atomizer and tanks up to 25mm in diameter without any overhang. On front of the device we have the OLED display, the two adjustment buttons and the micro-USB slot. The battery door is on the base and has that nice latched mechanism.

You will need two high drain 18650 cells to power on this device, and there are visible polarity indicators inside the battery compartment.

The Chip and main features

Powering the VaporFi V-Grip 220 TC is a very responsive board that's packed with features. Variable wattage works up to 220W and there's also Temperature Control for Nickel, Titanium, and Stainless Steel 316. If you wish to use other types of wire then you can set the temperature coefficient via the TCR function. The Bypass mode will make the device behave like a mechanical mod and automatically adjust output power according to the resistance you're using. Temperature range is between 200F – 600F.

The mod also has a couple of built-in safety features like low battery protection, low resistance protection, short-circuit protection and 10s automatic cut-off.

Nice OLED screen with real time clock display

The OLED display is bright and crisp, which makes it easy to read. It shows the current output wattage or temperature, output voltage, atomizer resistance, output current as well as remaining battery life.

A very nice feature of the VaporFi V-Grip 220 TC is its real time clock display. Just press the fire bar three consecutive times and then the + button to bring it up. Adjust the time by first pressing the – button and fire bar until each digit flashes; then using + button change them to the desired value.

Performance and final words on the V-Grip 220

The VaporFi V-Grip 220 TC is reasonably priced, dual 18650 box mod which looks great and performs flawlessly. The shape is very ergonomic and fire bar placement makes it feel natural and easy to use. It doesn't bring anything new to the table, but has good temperature control and real time clock display.

It's a sturdy, well-built device which works great with atomizers between 22 -25mm on top. We recommend using it with a sub ohm tank like the Horizon Tech Arco for best results.
