Kanger IPOW 2 review

Electronic cigarettes have really progressed in the last few years and we bet many of you veteran vapers out there are jealous on the performance of the entry level devices that smokers today can choose from when making the switch from tobacco. We all remember our first eGo batteries or some of the first clearomizers and it’s incredible how the industry evolved from mainly two piece cig-a-likes to thousands of e-liquid brands and countless advanced personal vaporizers. Today we are going to look at en eGo style battery that’s not actually an eGo per se, but more of a small mod.

The Kanger IPOW 2 is kid of a niche product that’s somewhere between the line of eGos and advanced personal vaporizers but it’s a tool mainly intended for beginners or for those making the switch from an older eGo or cig-a-like starter kit. It is available in three different sizes, according the amperage it packs – there is the 1000, the 1,300 and the 1,600mAh version – that we got.

Kanger IPOW 2 box contents The Kanger IPOW 2 comes packed in a standard cardboard box and inside you will find the battery, the micro USB cable and a 510 to eGo adapter. So, the IPOW comes with 510 threading out of the box and you need the eGo adapter for your clearomizers. This is why we believe it’s not an eGo per se, and it’s great for all those that want to experiment with more powerful accessories in the future. It works great with most of Kanger’s products like the Protank or the Aerotank series but we used it with an Aspire Nautilus Mini and were more than impressed.

Another great thing about the IPOW 2 is the micro USB port located on the side of the battery and not at the bottom. This also makes a great pass-through device when in front of your computer or laptop. And the powerful 1,600 battery is more than enough for two days of moderate vaping. And speaking about the internal battery it comes with jumbo heat dissipation holes, double protection and even an internal temperature control mechanism.

And now, the cool features – the Kanger IPOW 2 is a variable wattage device that’s able to go from 3 all the way to 15W with only a twist of the dial located at the bottom. It features a small OLED display at the bottom that shows the atomizer resistance, the battery charge and the current wattage. You won’t be able to use cleromizers or tanks with a resistance lower than 1.0 Ohm with the IPOW 2, but this thing is already extremely versatile and delivers remarkable performance for the price you pay.

The dial has some resistance to it and it’s very easy to find a personal sweet spot with any clearomizer or tank you mount on top. Once you reach the 15W limit it automatically starts from 3W again and you can twist it both ways. The battery has a total length of 115mm and a diameter of 18mm. To turn it on or off you will need to press the firing button five consecutive times.Kanger IPOW 2 kit blue

As a negative, we did notice some people complaining about the micro USB port malfunctioning but we didn’t notice any issues with it in the last 10 days we tested it and recharged it more than 10 times. It’s packed with numerous features found in the majority of mods but in a small eGo twist style battery. A definite best buy in our opinion.
