CBD vape juice has become very popular in the past months. Nowadays there are dozens of companies that sell Cannabidiol e-liquid and their number is steadily increasing. But finding a product that works can be a bit tricky, especially with the all the concentrations, bottle sizes and flavors. So here are the things you need to consider when purchasing CBD eliquid:

What exactly is CBD vape juice?

The first thing you need to understand is that there are two main types of vape-able CBD products: vape juice and oil. CBD vape juice is usually made from isolate and it's mixed with a VG/PG base to make it compatible with e-liquid mods and pens. CBD oil on the other hand is directly extracted from the plant and can only be vaped with specific oil vaporizers. You will usually find the latter sold as pre-filled cartridges.

Tip: Ecigguide has a great guide on how to make cbd vape juice in the comfort of your own home.

We are going to focus on VG/PG based CBD e-liquids, which are fully compatible with most box mods or vape pens for juices. These products are made from 99% pure Cannabidiol isolate and don't contain nicotine or any traces of THC. This means it won't get you high and you also won't fail a drug test which particularly scans for THC.

You can even make your own DIY CBD e-juice if you have some basic skills with recipients, syringes and mixing in general.

CBD eliquids for vaping come in a wide range of shapes and sizes, from glass bottles with dropper caps to gorilla bottles. These usually have the CBD concentration listed on the label as well as some clue regarding the overall flavor profile.

The most important aspect to consider is CBD concentration. Unlike nicotine – which is measured in mg/ml – CBD is measured for the whole recipient. This means that a 60ml bottle containing 250mg CBD vape juice will have a lower concentration than a 30ml bottle with the same 250mg rating.

The best way to have a clear estimate is to divide the CBD to the bottle size and compare the strength with other products.

How much CBD do I need?

A clear consensus on CBD dosage has yet to be reached. However it all depends on the benefits you are looking for. We always recommend beginners to start with a low dosage and gradually increase it until finding a sweet spot.

CBD dosage can be increased in two ways: first is to take more puffs from a low CBD e-liquid and second is to get a higher concentration juice. The dosage depends on body weight and the severity of symptoms and can range between 2-4mg up to 45mg.

Is my vape compatible with CBD juice?

CBD vape liquid is often compatible with most box mods and pens on the market right now. In the case of oils that are not isolate based, you will need an oils vaporizer or a 510-threaded vape pen battery for the pre-filled cartridge. Always check if the CBD product you are about to buy is VG/PG based or if it is oil based. If you are in doubt contact the shop or manufacturer for more information.

Since CBD has a particularly earthy flavor with a slightly bitter aftertaste, it all depends on the concentration. Most people can handle low concentration CBD juices on sub ohm tanks and box mods, however once the dose has been increased it can get a bit overwhelming.

We recommend less powerful, mouth to lung type vapes for high CBD concentrations. This makes the taste more tolerable and vastly improves the experience.
