200W and Temperature Control
Our Review On The SMY SDNA 200W TC MOD
Just by reading that this mod is powered by the brand new DNA 200 chip I already knew its performance would be legendary and after playing with it for a few days … I have to admit it’s also one of the best and well-built devices from SMY. This chip is much more accurate and reliable than the 40W version and the way it performs is setting new trends in the whole vaping industry.
The SMY SDNA 200W TC comes packed in a black cardboard box with a carbon fiber stripe on top and the DNA logo next to the product name. The mod comes in three available colors – red, white, and black – all of them with a marvelous finish and carbon fiber inserts. Inside the box you will find the device itself, the user’s manual, and micro-USB charging cable. It’s a very solid box mod made from high quality aluminum alloy and it has beveled edges so it’s sure to get noticed in any crowd. It measures roughly 95 x 51 x 25mm and it’s pretty sturdy so it’s clearly built to last for many years.
On the top side of the mod we have well threaded 510 connector fitted with a spring loaded center pin and on the main side we have the round firing button, the OLED display, the two adjustment buttons and the micro-USB charging port. The screen is very bright and generous, can be used in direct sunlight and shows the battery life, atomizer resistance output voltage, temperature, and current wattage. The SMY SDNA 200W TC MOD is powered by an internal 3S 4800mAh 35C battery so you’re looking at stellar autonomy from this premium product.
When it comes to power, the DNA 200 chip packs a lot of punch and it can reach a maximum of 200W but you need to be careful to pair it with an equally powerful tank or atomizer. And everyone knows that Evolv are pioneers when it comes to temperature control, so the TC feature on the SMY SDNA 200 works flawlessly. It can handle both Nickel and Titanium wire and the temperature can be set within the 200F – 600F range. With regular Kanthal wire the minimum resistance is 0.1 Ohm and the maximum is 2.0 Ohms while in TC mode the minimum resistance is 0.08 Ohms and the maximum is 1.0 Ohm.
You can lock the selected power on the SMY SDNA 200W TC by pressing two buttons, lock the device completely, use it in stealth mode and in temperature control mode. Detailed information about these features are detailed in the user’s manual and I do suggest reading it before using the mod.
With all this power comes great responsibility and the product comes packed with numerous safety features including short circuit protection, low resistance protection, high current protection and temperature protection. The battery is recharged via the provided micro-USB cable and it takes around 3h for the process to be completed.
I have used the SMY SDNA 200W TC with a variety of atomizers and tanks, including my Derringer RDA, Subtank Mini, SMOK TFV4 and Atty Cubed by Wotofo. I didn’t go as high as 200W on any of these devices but I did manage to reach 180W. I didn’t encounter any issues with the mod and the vapor production and flavor are out of this world. It’s probably one of the most powerful mods to ever reach our office and it’s the kind of device which can fill a room with fog in a few seconds. Despite dropping it twice, the paint didn’t chip and the device performed normally afterwards.
I would recommend this mod only to experienced vapers and mostly for those with a passion for cloud chasing and high wattages. At around $160 it’s pretty expensive but you do get your money’s worth. I bet it could win several cloud chasing competitions when fitted with an appropriate RDA on top.
