Smoant Charon TC 218 review

Smoant Charon TC 218

With a quality to price ratio that’s hard to beat, the Smoant Charon TC 218 is one of our favorite mods so far. At just under $60 this dual 18650 device is powered by a highly efficient chip ANT 218 chip and also features temperature control. It’s available in a variety of colors and looks great with just about any 24 – 25mm atomizer or tank on top.

The Smoant Charon TC 218 comes packed in a nice cardboard gift box and inside you will find the mod itself, a micro-USB cable for charging and upgrades, and the user manual. It doesn’t include any batteries and we do recommend two high drain 18650 cells of at least 25A.

The mod which reminds us of a Therion, measures 91 x 53 x 25mm and weighs little under 200g. This vape mod has a good quality stainless steel 510 connector on top and the body is made from Zinc alloy. The battery cover has a very classy leather finish and you can even buy extra stickers separately to upgrade the looks of your device. However, probably just like in the case of the eVic AIO, once you take off one sticker you won’t be able to use it in the future. Either way Smoant has a wide range of colors and designs to match even the pickiest of users.

Smoant Charon TC 218 blackOn the main side the Smoant Charon TC 218 has the massive round fire button, the OLED display, up & down buttons and the micro-USB slot. The device features future firmware upgradeability and this is always a big pro in our books. Also there are a lot of venting holes for the batteries all around the body and we’re glad they put safety first.

The battery door is held in place by strong magnets and it makes this cool clicking sound whenever you put slide it back in. It doesn’t have any sort of rattle and the overall build quality is quite impressive. Buttons are very responsive and they have such a nice feedback. And while this device isn’t powered by a DNA chip, you will have a hard time telling the difference. Their ANT 218 does a wonderful job in both variable wattage and temperature control modes and there’s even a power curve you can tweak via USB.

The Smoant Charon TC goes from 1W – 218W in power mode and from 200F – 600F in TC mode. To get to Celsius you simply need to keep the up button pressed as it round robins. It supports Nickel, Titanium, Stainless Steel and TCR and it fires down to 0.1 Ohms. The menu is very intuitive and once you read the user manual you won’t have any difficulties changing settings and locking the buttons or resistance.

In terms of performance the Smoant Charon TC 218 doesn’t disappoint. It’s the perfect tool for any high end atomizer or tank as long as they have a maximum diameter of 25mm. Build quality is very impressive considering the price range and the chip has been a very pleasant surprise. A classy box mod with great battery life and incredible value. It’s one of the best alternatives to those expensive DNA chips and it does its job without flaw.
