We’ve tested several sub ohm devices this year, but none of them as funky looking as the Advken MANTA Tank. It has a total capacity of 5.0ml and comes with this protruding resin reservoir that makes it resemble a miniature UFO. The coils, however, are some of the best we tried so far. In addition the device is also fully compatible with Baby Beast atomizer heads.
Really good mesh coils
Great top fill mechanism
Love it or hate it looks
Hard to adjust the airflow and to take it off the mod
Black version is hard to see throughÂ
Rather expensive for what it offers
What you get with the MANTA tank
You will receive the Advken MANTA tank packed inside a dark blue presentation box. It comes pre-fitted with the 0.2 Ohm coil and there’s also a spare 0.16 Ohm coil available. The tank includes an extra reservoir section made from glass, a microfiber cloth for cleaning as well as a bag of spare O-rings.
You can select from two colors: Black and Silver, however the black version is much harder to see through.
Design and features of the Advken MANTA
The Advken MANTA sub ohm tank is made from high quality 304 stainless steel and resin. It has a diameter of 24mm at the base and a total height of 46mm with the drip tip attached. Due to the design of the e-liquid reservoir, the total diameter is 30mm.
The tank features a a very accessible push to unlock fill mechanism at the top. The port is generous and allows the use of any type of dropper or unicorn bottle. Unfortunately there is no spare fill gasket, like on many other tanks we recently reviewed
The airflow adjustment ring is on the base and it’s easily detachable.
There are two reservoir sections you get with this tank: the resin and the glass version. The resin section has a honeycomb design and the silver version lets you see e-liquid level with no problems. The glass section is very similar in size and has a pearl/rainbow finish that’s very interesting.
The two beautifully designed mesh coils
The Advken MANTA tank includes two types of mesh coils: the 0.16 Ohm and the 0.20 Ohm. And while these look rather different, they perform almost the same. We had remarkable results in terms of flavor and vapor production at around 60W and both cope with high VG juices quite well.
The only thing you need to do is tightly screw the coil to the base. This prevents it from getting stuck to the chimney section whenever you take the tank apart.
Performance and thoughts on the MANTA sub ohm tank
The Advken MANTA tank is a solid performer with a very unique design. Its coils are some of the best we tested in 2018 and they are perfect for vapor and flavor. We particularly enjoyed the generous top fill port and the push to unlock mechanism. It’s quite expensive for what it offers, but the mesh coils are totally worth it.
The only big con we found with this tank is with the reservoir. Since it protrudes so much and it’s so close to the base, it makes it difficult to adjust the airflow. It also makes it difficult to remove the tank from the mod because it doesn't offer enough grip. If you try to take it off by holding from different other sections you will end up taking the thing apart.
We recommend using a rubber glove to avoid e-liquid leaks and all the unnecessary frustration.
