The iTaste Hunter is a perfect kit for beginners and ideal as a back-up for vapers who love exploring the outdoors and need a sturdy device to take with them. Performance wise it does a great job at delivering rich and flavorful clouds, however you do need an external charger to use it. If you enjoy the rugged look and the bulkiness then it might just be the perfect mod for you.
If you like devices with that authentic rugged look then you're going to love the new Innokin iTaste Hunter Starter Kit. It's a kit designed for durability and safety and it kind of resembles a portable radio or a walkie-talkie. Powered by a single 18650 battery, the AETHON chipset features ClearWave signal smoothing technology for a very accurate and enjoyable experience. It also comes with the brand new iSub V sub ohm tank that makes a great pair with the mod and holds up to 3.0 ml of e-juice.
What's inside the Innokin Hunter box?
The Innokin iTaste Hunter comes packed in a regular cardboard gift box and inside you will find the device itself, the iSub V TC tank with two 0.5 Ohm SS coils and the user manual. No micro-USB cable inside the packaging and no micro-USB slot on the device. Not really sure why Innokin did this, but in order to use this kit you will also have to buy a decent battery as well as an external charger. For those of you who already have them it's no problem but for the beginners it might be an issue. Charging your batteries with an external device is always the best option, however in the case of single 18650 mods it's not an issue.
Hunter: Design and features
The mod is solid and well built and feels quite bulky even when comparing it with dual-18650 devices. It measures around 89 x 51 x 25mm and it has a very rugged appearance. The outer shell is made from metal and hard plastic, although rubber would have added a completely different touch to the whole design. On the top there's a spring loaded 510 connector that's a bit recessed to make all atties sit flush, however because of the rim it will look great only with 22mm device on top. Anything bigger will have a bit of overhang that's mostly noticeable in front. The display is circular and placed on the face of the mod, while on the main side we have the fire and adjustment buttons. The battery compartment is located at the base and it has that cool knurling for easy access.
The outdoorsy type of mod
On the iTaste Hunter, right next to the display is some kind of clasp that's probably intended for a lanyard. This adds to the whole outdoorsy vibe, however, I didn't find any info about this mod being dust, shock or water proof. There's no rattle and it feels it could definitely survive a few drops, however I don't intend to put this theory to the test.
In terms of power it's a single 18650 mod that goes from 6.0 – 75W and it also does temperature control for Nickel, Titanium and Stainless Steel. You can adjust the watts in TC mode and the feature works flawlessly out of the box. This is great considering you can't upgrade the firmware or adjust the TCR values.
The ISUB V TC tank is an excellent match
The iSub V TC tank that comes inside the box matches the color of the mod and it works with 0.5 Ohm Stainless Steel coils. These are suited for both variable wattage and temperature control and they do deliver great vapor and flavor. It's a simple to use top fill tank with a total capacity of 3.0ml and adjustable airflow.
Performance on the iTaste Hunter
I see the iTaste Hunter as a kit for beginners or as a back-up for vapers who love exploring the outdoors and need a sturdy device to take with them. Performance wise it does a great job at delivering rich and flavorful clouds, however you do need an external charger to use it. If you enjoy the rugged look and the bulkiness then it might just be the perfect mod for you.
