SMOK TFV12 Prince Cobra

SMOK has released quite a few tanks this year, and the TFV12 Prince Cobra is by far the most impressive. This mini fog machine comes with the all new strip and mesh coils and these do an amazing job at delivering vapor. The design has also been improved and the acrylic bulb tubes are a nice added touch. Built for clouds and flavor, this sub ohm tank is bound to take your vaping experience to a whole new dimension.

PROS:

Strip coils are great

Fancy acrylic drip tip and bulb section

Cobra Mesh interior design looks nice

Good top fill mechanism

CONS:

Not very different from the original TFV12 Prince

The cobra mesh cage has no practical purpose

Mesh coils are not as good as the Strip

Prince Cobra packaging, contents and available colors

The SMOK TFV12 Prince Cobra tank is going to surprise you with its luxurious appearance. From the neat presentation box to its contents, everything about this product feels high end. It comes pre-fitted with the new and innovative 0.15 Ohm Strip coil. You also get a 0.15 Ohm Mesh coil as well as a 0.4 Ohm dual Clapton coil. In the box you will also find a spare acrylic tank section, a spare drip tip, a bag of extra O-rings and gaskets, and the user manual.

This cloud chasing bad boy is available in 10 different colors. And apart from the Rainbow and the usual shades, we also get two "magic color" options. One of the tanks changes from red to white when the inside temperature increases and the other changes from blue to white. This is a very cool feature from SMOK and we would like to see it on more of their tanks in the future. The Shenzhen vape manufacturer also surprised us this year with their super-smart I-Priv kit and the beautiful H-Priv box mod.

A tank uniquely designed for clouds and flavor

The TFV12 Cobra doesn't look that different from the original Prince, which we covered in the SMOK Mag review . However it does have some elements that sets it apart. The most important is the “Cobra mesh” cage inside the tank. And while this is removable it does make the product look nice. The design of the resin mouthpiece has also been updated from the dull honeycomb look and we also get a new acrylic drip tip inside the box. This one feels a lot more comfortable on the lips and it's our favorite so far.

The spare acrylic tube section is also a key design element. This matches the overall color of the tank and makes it look incredibly well. It will affect visibility though so you will need to keep it next to a bright background when checking e-liquid level.

SMOK Cobra Tank

The tank measures 63mm in height and has a base diameter of 24.5mm. However the overall diameter is 28mm and that's on the bulb section of the glass. You can fit up to 7ml of e-juice inside, but only if you take out the cobra mesh section. With the mesh, capacity drops to around 6.2 – 6.5ml.

With the TFV12 Prince Cobra you get dual adjustable airflow at the base and convenient top fill. The top fill mechanism features a push to unlock button and it's one of the best we tested.

The Strip and Mesh coils

The Strip coils are really good and they are the main reason we love this tank so much. They provide a much better experience than the Claptons or the Mesh style atomizer and they also last for much longer. We had best results at 80W, where the vapor and flavor are comparable to what you would get from a high quality RTA.

The Mesh coils are also good, but in our opinion not as good as the Strip. Flavor is partially muted if you don't open the airflow adjustment all the way and vapor is not as smooth. Both coils are great for high VG as they can cope with thicker e-liquids without any sort of issues.

Overall performance and final words on the Prince Cobra tank

The SMOK TFV12 Prince Cobra is a solid performer. Build quality is top notch, airflow is perfect and flavor is off the charts. The Strip coils are some of the best in class and they last much longer than traditional SMOK atomizers, like in the case of the TFV12 Cloud Beast King

The fading colors are really nice and the acrylic bulb section and mouthpiece make the tank stand out. It doesn't have so many unique features compared to the original Prince tank but it's definitely worth the $37 price tag. All in all a good sub ohm tank with dense, flavor rich clouds and outstanding coils.
