Smoant S8 pod vape | First refillable pod starter kit from Smoant

The sleek and tiny S8 is shaped like an nearly-finished bar of soap. It feels so nice in your palm that it's hard to put it down once you get your hands on one. Besides its looks, this pod vape system has more to offer. Not only is this tiny vape extremely reliable and consistent but it also has all its electronics waterproofed. This way the board won't get damaged over time from e-liquid leaks or condensation and the experience will always be the same as it was in day one.

Packaging and available S8 colors

The Smoant S8 starter kit comes packed in a standard black cardboard box. Inside you will find the device itself, the refillable pod, a high quality micro-USB cable, a needle top refill bottle, and the instructions manual.

The vaporizer is available in a single color – glossy Black – and we're not exactly sure if SMOANT plans on releasing other colors or finishes in the future.

Familiar size and Shape, still a completely different device

The S8 measures 87mm x 48mm x 13mm and weighs around 70 grams. It's made from Zinc alloy and has a glossy finish but unfortunately it's also a fingerprint magnet. The device has magnets on top which secure the pod in its place and a micro-USB slot on the side. It feels really nice in the hand and it will easily fit inside your pocket or purse.

It looks like SMOANT probably got its inspiration for the S8 from the well known Suorin Drop starter kit. I do have to say it seems like they vastly improved on all their flaws. The pod mod is about the same size and shape, but at the same time it's three times as heavy. There's no crackling noise when you take a puff and the sensor is flawless.

The internal components

The Smoant S8 vape is powered by a non-removable 370mAh battery. This has a nice pass-through option, which means you can still vape on it while it's charging. Input current is 0.5A, and this means it takes around 70 minutes to get a full charge.

One of the key features of this vape is that the board is waterproof. This means if e-liquid or water vapor accidentally get into the device through the air sensor slot, the internal components will not get damaged. We didn't want to take the tiny thing apart just to check this, but we're pretty confident Smoant are telling the truth.

Another key feature is the regulated output. The S8 pod system will deliver the same 3.3V current regardless if the battery if full or needs to be recharged. This translates into a very smooth and consistent vape experience from start to finish.

Two LED notification lights on each side of the pod will let you know when the battery needs to be recharged. They will show the color Blue as the device goes from 100% to 30% battery and then start to blink Red. The LEDs will also blink during the charging session but unfortunately it's really hard to see them in normal light conditions.

There are six safety features on the S8 and this is another reason we enjoy this vape so much. It has sort circuit protection, board protection, charging protection, low voltage protection, 10s cut-off as well as overheat protection.

The S8 pod

A Smoant S8 pod has a total capacity of 2.0ml and atomizer resistance is 1.3 Ohms. It has two magnets on the bottom which help it snap into place. There is a single fill port but the opening is big enough to use a standard unicorn or gorilla bottle. However we do recommend using the one in the kit because it lets the air escape a lot faster and easier. Just make sure you leave the pod for at least 10 minutes after you fill it the first time.

The mouthpiece is integrated in the pod and it's really comfortable. The draw is pretty tight, and it's designed for mouth to lung draws. Flavor and vapor production are some of the best we tried on a pod system and they are very similar if not better than on the SMOK Infinix.

Performance and overall thoughts on the Smoant S8 vape

The Smoant S8 pod vape has convinced us in just a couple of days that will become a best seller. Everything about this device is great from its stellar battery life to its outstanding flavor. It's easy to use, reliable and most importantly – it's consistent. A great pod mod for nicotine salts as long as you're using 60/40 or 70/30 VG/PG mixes. The only thing we don't like is the super glossy finish – but that's more of a subjective con.

We recommend this product to all beginners who want to make the switch and also to everyone else as a nice back-up or office vape. It's stealthy, has a great battery and works flawlessly every time.
