In terms of performance the Aspire Archon offers plenty for its price tag. 150W is more than enough for today's high end tanks or RTAs and the CFPB feature ads a nice touch. Upgradeable firmware, child lock and numerous menu shortcuts make this mod a great options for beginners and intermediate users. Aspire's latest chips are packed with features and they perform very well so I just had to review one of their recently released box mods. The Aspire Archon 150W TC is a dual 18650 device that resembles the Plato in terms of design but is way more powerful. And if you remember the power curve feature on the Vaporesso Tarot Pro, this particular mod has three such options, besides regular variable wattage and temperature control.
CFPB and Power Curve, my favorite features on the Achron
The power curve feature allows to essentially program exactly the way you want to mod to deliver power to the coils and this is very useful in case of Claptons or other complex designs. You can basically hit it at a higher wattage for the first two seconds and then gradually decrease the power according to personal preference. I find this a very useful feature to have on a mod and it's one of the reasons I like it so much.
What you get inside the Aspire Archon 150W TCÂ box
The Aspire Archon comes packed in a black cardboard gift box and inside you will find the mod itself, the user manual and a micro-USB cable. It measures 88 x 50 x 23mm and it feels very natural in the hand. It's roughly the same size as the Plato but in my opinion a depth of 24mm would have been a lot better since many of the high end atomizers are 24mm in diameter. The mod is available in three different colors and I really love that yellow line all around the edges.
Design and features of the Archon 150W TC
On the top side of the Aspire Archon there's a spring loaded 510 connector that feels solid and durable and going down the main side we see the fire button, the mode buttons, the crisp 0.86 inch display, the two adjustment buttons, and the micro-USB slot. I would recommend using the micro-USB cable for upgrades only, since this mod has download-able firmware on the company website.
To access the battery slots you simply need to pull the cover of mod, which is held in place by magnets. I've notice a bit of rattle at times, but it's not something annoying. The Aspire Archon is a dual 18650 and I would recommend using high drain cells with at least 25A continuous discharge current. Batteries need to be purchased separately.
Great temperature control settings
The Aspire Archon is mod packed with features. It does variable wattage from 1W - 150W, temperature
control for Nickel, Titanium, Stainless Steel and TCR as well as Bypass and CFBP. CFPB or Customizable Firing Button Profiles are the power adjustment curves we've talked about earlier and these can be fine-tuned for optimum performance. Another very important feature on this device is child lock. This allows you to set a 3 digit password that will protect it from unauthorized access. It does the job perfectly and it's great for parents who vape and want to keep their device away from the reach of toddlers.
