If a powerful advanced personal vaporizer that can also do temperature control and a matching tank is everything you ever wanted, then get ready for total revelation because we are going to take a closer look at the Smok X Cube II Starter Kit. The kit includes everything needed for the hottest vaping experience ever and it’s intended for intermediate to advanced vapers and even cloud chasers. With this kit you are going to get the Smok X Cube II 160W mod, a micro-USB cable, two high drain 35A Efest 18650 batteries, an Efest battery charger, and the tank of your choice, from a selection of three different models. You can go for the regular Smok TCT tank, the Horizon Tech Arctic tank, or the massive and extremely powerful Smok TFV4.

But before we go over each tank’s specifications, let’s first check out Smok’s latest flagship mod, the X Cube II. This is a fairly big box mod with a total height of 100mm, a width of 60mm and a depth of 24.5mm and it’s made from high quality stainless steel and zinc alloy. It weighs around 240 grams and it’s powered by two 18650 batteries. The reason it needs two batteries is because this monster of a mod can go up to 160W and it also comes with temperature control.

One of the nicest features of the Smok X Cube II is the firing button, which is totally integrated as the back side of the mod. It also comes with an LED band on both sides that light up with each press of the button and it’s the type of thing that will get you noticed at any party. As an extra it does come with built-in Bluetooth and if you connect it to an app on your phone you can tweak the settings, but we’ll talk about that later.

On the top side you will notice the spring loaded 510 connector, the generous OLED display, and the two +/- adjustment buttons. On the front of the mod we have the magnetic battery door and on the bottom there’s the micro-USB port that’s intended for firmware upgrades and not for charging the batteries. The firing button (of firing bar to be more correct) is located on the back of the mod and it’s as long as the box itself. However it does feel nice when pressed and it’s a great experience regardless of the way you like to keep your mod in your hand. The magnets on the battery door are not as powerful as on other models, but they do a good job and everything fits in place just perfectly.

The glowing LED bar is a thing of beauty and it really ads to the beautiful design of the Smok X Cube II. You can combine the three basic colors (green, red and blue) in up to 16 million colors and you can customize the whole experience to the last detail.

The gorgeous OLED display on the top shows the current wattage or temperature, atomizer resistance, puff counter and output voltage. To get into the menu you need to press the firing button three times (if you press it five times it’s not going to turn it off but lock it) and from here you can turn the Bluetooth on or off, change from VW to TC or Memory mode, adjust the puff counter, change the LED bar color scheme, fine tune the settings or turn off the mod.

To use the Bluetooth app you need to download it on your phone, pair it with your device and essentially use or Android or iOS as a remote control. You can get real time statistics from the mod, change the settings and change the color scheme with a visual diagram. It works perfectly and it’s one of the most impressive and innovative features I’ve ever encountered on a vaping device.

In terms of performance it all depends on the tank you choose to go with your Smok X Cube II. If Temperature Control is what you’re looking for then the Smok TCT Tank is a very good option. It uses 0.15 Ohm Nickel coil heads and they work between 400 – 600F. It has a total capacity of 5.5ml of e-liquid.The Horizon Tech Arctic tank uses a wide range of coils from 0.20 Ohms BTC (bottom turbine coils) to 0.50 Ohm BTDC (bottom turbine dual coils) and even 1.2 Ohm coils for those who don’t enjoy sub-ohming that much.
