Our Review On The Kanger Subox Mini Kit

Kanger Subox Mini Kit

The Kanger Subtank was, in my opinion, the first vaping device that had that ‘sports car’ vibe to it and today we have a different product from the same manufacturer that follows the same design lines. I’m talking of course about the brand new Kanger Subox Mini Kit, a very chic and compact mod fitted with a matching tank that gives the impression it’s designed in Italy. Since the introduction of the iStick, the vaping market has seen so many compact box mods fighting for supremacy, so one might ask what makes this Subox so special? Well, you are about to find out because we received the white version a week ago and after thoroughly testing it we decided it deserves a place on the website.

Kanger Subox Mini whiteThe Kanger Subox Mini comes packed in one of the most beautiful presentation boxes we’ve seen so far and since first impressions matter, this one is going to blow your mind. The cardboard box comes with a color matching sleeve on top and a magnetic seal. Inside you will notice the mod itself, a Subtank mini fitted with a 0.5 Ohm coil, a spare 1.5Ohm coil, an RBA base, two pre-built coils, some cotton,  a screwdriver and some screws, a micro USB cable, the user’s manual, a small guide on how to operate the mod and the new coils, an authenticity certificate that you can verify online,  and a bunch of stickers that, to be honest, didn’t know what to do with. It’s only later that we realized they are for wrapping around the battery so that the color you get through the ‘K’ logo shaped vent holes matches the palette of the mod and tank – so that’s pretty cool.

When you look up close at the Kanger Subox Mini you’ll definitely notice the improvements over the older KBox. The finish is lovely and it matches the aqueous ceramic coating on the Subtank Mini, there is a gorgeous OLED display this time and the device can hit 50W. On the front of the mod there’s the firing button, the screen, the two adjustment (+) / (-) buttons, and the micro-USB charging port. This is a pass-through device so you can use it while it’s charging and since the port is located on the side, you can sit it up straight and let it do its thing. On the top you’ll spot the 510 connection with the air channels, however this doesn’t come with a spring-loaded or adjustable pin unfortunately. On the base you’ll notice the seam you need to put your fingernail in in order to pull the battery door, which is held in place by magnets.

The OLED display shows the current wattage, output voltage, atomizer resistance and remaining battery. You can flip it if you are left-handed Kanger Subox Mini kit whiteby keeping the two adjustment buttons pressed for a couple of seconds. The device goes from 7.0W all the way up to 50W in 0.1W increments, however if you keep one of the buttons pressed it will go in 1.0W increments. The minimum resistance you can use with the Kanger Subox Mini is 0.3 Ohms. It does come with some great safety features like reverse polarity protection, short circuit protection, low resistance warning, and low battery warning. It requires a single 18650 battery that needs to be rated at minimum 25A continuous discharge rate.

Kanger Subox Mini mod blackThe Subtank mini that comes in the kit has been upgraded with a few improvements, like a redesigned adjustable airflow mechanism, improved OCC coils and an improved RBA base. If you plan on using the RBA base it’s a lot easier to mount your coil and the wicking and the chimney is fitted in place with a screw. You will need a bit more cotton as opposed to the original Subtank, but the results are outstanding.

The Kanger Subox Mini kit is excellent for anyone looking for a great setup to experiment with sub-ohming, building their own coils and getting the five star vaping experience for the minimum price. The device performs extremely well, we didn’t encounter any sort of issues and the vapor is just flawless. No dry hits, maximum flavor and a big smile on our faces. Besides a battery and a bottle of e-liquid, it packs everything needed to get you started and going for a couple of weeks. A great combo that is going to make all of your friends jealous.
