Like most other electronic devices, vaporizers usually have an expected lifespan of around two years. However, few of them make it that long and most of the time it's due to the way people generally use them. Batteries these days can handle a lot of wear and tear, but they do have their limits and users regularly tend to disregard these simple rules.

We are going to show you 7 ways to extend the lifespan of your vape, which are guaranteed to work and will help you save more money on the long run. Simple tips, that don't require a lot of time and energy, but are usually neglected by the wide majority of vapers. So here it goes:

1. Treat your battery with the respect it demands

Batteries are essential for the vaping process and they are probably the most important part of any vape mod. At the same time they store a lot of energy and they can cause serious damage when not handled properly. You've probably read the news about exploding mods and fires caused by improper use of vaporizer batteries.

Make sure you never keep your mod in direct sunlight or close to other sources of heat. Also it's crucial you don't use batteries with torn wraps, or with other visible signs of damage. Always recharge these cells with the cable and wall adapter provided by the manufacturer and replace them whenever necessary.

2. Always recharge your vape battery on time

To extend the lifespan of your vaporizer, it's really important to recharge your battery once it reaches 15 – 10%. Discharging it past this limit or fully discharging the cell will greatly affect its overall performance. Sure, many box mods have protections which can limit the damage caused by over discharge, but it's always better to be cautious.

And contrary to popular belief, constantly recharging the battery even if it hasn't dropped below 50% doesn't cause much harm. It's something that used to affect older batteries, but nowadays the technology has dramatically improved.

3. Turn off your vaporizer when not in use

It's very convenient to take a few pulls and then leave your vape sitting on the desk for hours; however it still uses a small amount of current. We recommend turning off the device completely when not in use to conserve battery and prevent unnecessary wear and tear. Five clicks on the button is not that hard and it will greatly improve the lifespan of your vape.

4. Avoid storing your box mod with the batteries inside

If your device works with removable batteries and you don't plan on using it for an extensive period of time, make sure you remove the cells before storing it. Even when turned off completely the device still uses the battery to remember your preferred settings or the date and time. Removing the batteries will ensure they never get over-discharged and it will keep them functioning at 100% even longer.

5. Fully charge the batteries before storing

If you decide to put one of your box mods on storage, we recommend fully charging the batteries first. Even if you remove them from the device, temperature changes and natural process inside the cells will affect its charge and that's why it's important to have them at 100% right from the start.

Also make sure to place the batteries inside plastic containers, specifically designed for the type of cell you have. Silicone pouches are also great, especially if you plan to carry them inside your pocket or purse.

6. Keep your vaporizer and contacts nice and clean

From e-liquid leaks to the grease on your hands, any mod or vaporizer is bound to require cleaning at some point. However, we recommend you do this more regularly and use a cotton swab to reach the inner portion of the 510 connector.

Gunk and residue can act as an insulator, which will prevent electricity from reaching the atomizer. This puts extra strain on the batteries, which need to work harder in order to provide the same amount of power. Having a clean mod and especially clean contacts will definitely increase the lifespan of your favorite vaporizer.

Also, if you're not going to use your device for a day or two, we recommend detaching the tank to prevent e-liquid leaks. These are often the main cause of short-circuits or chip failure, and are not covered by the warranty.

7. Prevent the mod from overheating

Heat is your battery's worst enemy; therefore prolonged exposure will have a negative effect on its lifespan and performance. It's always important to keep your vaporizer away from direct sunlight or other heat sources, and by no means leave it inside the car during summer.

It's also a good idea to take long pauses between puffs, so that the atomizer does not overheat. Besides the high temperature, vaping at high wattage's and especially chain vaping puts a lot of stress on the batteries and internal components of the mod.

In conclusion

By following these seven simple tips you are guaranteed to expand the lifespan of your vaporizer and enjoy the same great experience for a much longer period of time. It's not rocket science but it's something most users neglect, and end up ruining their mods after only a few month. Replacing your battery on a regular basis can become expensive. Regular maintenance, moderate use and proper battery care are the key elements which prevent early wear and tear.
