With the whole sub-ohm tank hysteria of the past few months we didn’t have time to check out other products but today we are going to look at two of the newest RDAs that feel and perform amazing. We know that there are still many vapers out there that enjoy a good dripper and we totally understand why – these devices help produce some of the biggest clouds ever and they are the main tools used when going cloud chasing.
The Mutation X V3 is a beastly RDA that comes in a variety of colors like brass, white, black, copper, and stainless steel and it’s destined for advanced users only. The main characteristic about this model is that is comes with an adjustable airflow system composed of 18 holes (9 on each side, three rows x 3) and uses the top cap as dial. It comes packed in a purple cardboard box and inside you will find the Mutation X V3, a wide bore drip tip, a 510 drip tip adapter and a bag of goodies that includes a mini screwdriver, spare O-rings, a user manual, and extra Philips head screws.
The Mutation X V3 is made of three main parts – the top cap with the airflow adjustment blade, the barrel, and the deck that comes with double positive posts and two negative posts on the side. It also has a silver plated adjustable 510 pin on the bottom and a generous well to fit plenty of wicking material and e-liquid inside. The holes in the posts are massive and their allow for easy coil building. You can use this RDA in single, dual or quad-coil mode and you can even adjust the airflow individually for each type of build. If you don’t like the wide drip tip included you can use the Derlin adapter and you can use it with any standard 510 drip tip you fancy.
We really like the heat sink on the top cap that helps dissipate the warmth from the coils and vapor and the way this RDA performs. Even in single coil mode it can blow bigger clouds than any Atlantis or Subtank and the quality of materials is amazing. The adjustable airflow system is easy to use and the O-rings do their job perfectly. Considering that the Mutation X V3 sells for right under $30, it’s a very competitive and powerful RDA that would fit perfectly on any 22mm mod.
In the other corner there is the Troll RDA from Wotofo, a Chinese manufacturer that was also responsible for the Freak Show RDA. This device is built entirely for sub-ohming and cloud chasing so only buy it if you’re into this sort of vaping experience. If you use it with a standard over 1 Ohm build you are going to notice a decline in flavor.
The Troll RDA comes packed in one of the most original boxes out there – it’s actually a round metal tin with a transparent top that hides the device, a certificate of quality, and a bag of goodies that includes a mini screwdriver, spare O-rings and spare screws for the posts. Same as the Mutation X V3, the Troll features adjustable airflow with the same type of blade mechanism in the top cap. It features 6 air slots (three on each side) and given the angle shape of the blade it induces a swirling effect to the vapor inside. It does not come with a drip tip, but you can use it with any standard one you like.
The Troll RDA is made of three parts – the top cap with the adjustable airflow blades, the barrel and the base that features two positive and two negative posts fitted with Philips head screws. The silver plated 510 connection pin is adjustable and can fit flush with any 22mm mod. You can use it in single, dual or quad coil configuration and the deep two-level well ensure you have plenty of e-liquid available to soak those wicks in.
Performance wise, the Troll is an excellent RDA that’s, as we mentioned earlier, designed for sub ohming and cloud chasing. Vapor production is very good, especially in dual coil mode and the flavor is awesome. It’s a great gizmo to add to your collection and it’s totally worth the $25 you pay for it..
