You will receive the Innokin EQ vape in a classy cardboard presentation box. It has a picture of the pod mod on the front and some molecules drawn on the side. Inside there’s the device itself, a micro-USB charging cable, and the user manual.

We would have loved to see two refillable pods instead of just one, but to be honest it’s what most manufacturers really go for these days.

Available colors are: Black, Purple, Blue, Grey, and Red, so there are plenty of options to match your style.

Innokin EQ Design and features

At first glance, the portable pod system might look very similar to the Aspire Breeze. However, on close inspection, you will start to notice the differences. The Innokin EQ pod mod measures 90mm x 35mm x 15mm and has a nice rubberized finish to it. This gives it a lot of grip and it’s similar to what we saw on some version of the Suorin Drop pod.

The big, back-lit, fire button is on the front and a micro-USB slot on the base. The pod is fully detachable and it’s held in place by a magnet.

The battery is internal and it’s rated for 800mAh. This offers very good autonomy, but not as stellar as we had hoped for.

Regular mode vs boost mode

To power the device on or off you simply need to press the button for three consecutive times. The LED light will blink to show everything is up and running and it will adjust color according to the mode you have selected.

There are basically two operating modes for the Innokin EQ vape. In regular mode it will deliver 13.5W to the coil for a smooth and cool experience. In boost mode it will crank up the wattage to 15.5W and provide a stronger throat hit and warmer vapor.

To switch between these modes you need to keep the button pressed for a couple of seconds while the device is turned off. Here the LED will start to change its color from white to orange, and these are basically the two operating modes. If you release the button when the LED is white, the pod system will be in regular mode. If you release it when the LED is orange, the device will be in boost more.

They come with the new Innokin Plexus coil technology which offers outstanding vapor production and flavor. These atomizers are fitted with mesh style coils, just like the ones we've seen on most modern sub ohm box mod kits.

The coils have a resistance of 0.5 Ohms and they last for much longer than many of their competitors. Break-in times are super fast and they cope even with 70VG e-liquids and nic salts.

In addition the refill mechanism is also very innovative. You simply twist the base of the pod to reveal the fill ports and pour in the e-juice. Then put the pod back together, slide it inside the device and you’re ready to vape.

Performance and thoughts on the Innokin EQ

The Innokin EQ pod vape kit is an innovative device that works brilliantly with nicotine salts and freebase e-liquids. It features the first sub ohm mesh coil on a pod system and this accounts for stellar vapor and flavor. Battery life is also good and you can even vape it while it’s charging.

Unfortunately you can’t really see the e-liquid level through the black pods, but that’s about the only con we can find with this device.
