Our Review On The Eleaf iStick 50W
The first iStick was a huge success and it quickly sold out in the majority of online stores, with suppliers having to struggle to keep up with the increasing demand. Part of its success was due to the small size, quality of materials, versatility and performance but vapers wanted a lot more power than the usual 20W so the guys at Eleaf had to come up with an improvement and boy they did. While noticeably bigger than its predecessor the new iStick can go as high as 50W of pure vaping power and the fun doesn’t stop there.
The iStick 50W comes packed in a nice white cardboard box with some plastic wrapping with a nice big picture on the mod on the top. Inside the box you will find the mod in the color of your preference (black, grey, blue and pink), an eGo adapter, the micro-USB cable, a wall adapter and the manual. The first thing you will notice is that, while bit bigger than the previous version of the iStick, the 50W model is still compact with respect to the battery capacity of 4400mAh – clearly much smaller than other newly released box mods like the MVP 3.0 for instance. It also weighs not more than 150g which makes it fairly light and quite easy to hold and vape.
Just like in the first version of the iStick, the top side of this device is chrome plated and features the spring loaded 510 connection with the two channels for airflow. However, on the bottom side there is no longer the micro-USB charging port, this being moved on one side of the device. Also, the display and two adjusting buttons have been moved to the front while the firing button remained in the same position as on the original version. The buttons are conveniently placed and they are very responsive. They are easily found on the whole contour of the mod and we really loved their clickiness.
The Eleaf iStick 50W is a variable voltage (2 – 10V) / variable wattage (5 – 50W) mod that can work with atomizers and tanks having the resistance between 0.2 and 5.0 Ohms. This makes the device extremely versatile and a fabulous day-to-day vaporizer that packs a lot of battery power.
To power the device on or off you simply need to click the firing button five times in less than two seconds. Also if you want to go from variable voltage to variable wattage and vice versa you simply need to push the firing button for three times consecutively. Both the voltage and wattage can be adjusted in 0.1 increments and the device accelerates through the settings once you keep your button pressed so finding the setting you are looking for is quite easy. The screen is small, but bright and generous in terms of information. You can see the battery charge, the resistance of your atomizer, the output voltage (or wattage) and the current wattage (or voltage). And since you can use the iStick 50W as a pass-though it’s great that the guys at Eleaf decided to move the micro-USB port from the bottom to the side, so your tanks are always upright.
A great thing about the new iStick is that it automatically adjusts its power output depending on the resistance of your atomizer. This means you won’t be able to vape it from 5W to 50W with every device but, you tend to get very close to this range of values. But don’t get us wrong, you can go as low as 5W or as high as 50W but with different resistances. The device also has a built-in temperature protection circuit that shuts off the mod once it has reached the critical temperature of 70 degrees Celsius. This combined with all the other safety features make the iStick 50W a very good mod for both beginners and advanced vapers.
Once you pair it with a nice RDA or tank that is capable of sub-ohm resistances like the Aspire Atlantis, you’ll notice the full potential of this small beast. The clouds are huge and the flavor is absolutely amazing. With no doubt in mind we are sure that the iStick 50W is going to also be a massive best seller and once you start puffing on it you’ll quickly understand why.
